Last weekend Jake Clark was competing on his Moto3 in the latest round of the Hel Performance Motostar British Standard class championship.

Round six was at Brands hatch on the GP circuit, and one Clark hadn’t previously ridden. He used FP1 on Friday to get to know the circuit. The first day ended well with Clark going on to reduce his lap time by around 1.5 seconds in FP2.

The riders were out for qualifying at 9am on Saturday morning. It had rained throughout the night and so Clark started the 30 minute session on wet tyres. Although the sun was shining the riders weren’t able to switch to dry tyres until about 10 minutes from the end of the session. Clark did well in the mixed conditions qualifying 13th for race one.

Race one was on Saturday afternoon. Having remained dry throughout the morning large dark clouds began to loom and just before the start there was a deluge. The race was put back until the end of Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday morning Clark and his team-mates at Wilson Racing were invited up to the BSB Radio studio. He thoroughly enjoyed being interviewed by Paul Musselle about his racing career.

The first race was the 14 lap feature race. Clark started 13th in his class and made a solid start. He then went on to set his fastest lap of the race on lap two as he pushed to stay with the riders ahead. He went on to cross the finish line 13th and collect three championship points.

The forecast rain didn’t arrive for the second race of the weekend. Therefore, the riders were able to enjoy a dry ten lap sprint. Clark in only his second round of Moto3 started at the back of the grid but was determined to continue improving his performance and finishing in every race he has started in the class. He did both, collecting a ninth place finish as well as setting his fastest lap of the weekend a 1:42.321.

Jake Clark will now move on to the fast and twisty Thruxton circuit for the next round of the Hel performance Motostar British standard Championship on the 4th to 6th August.

Jake Clark said,”It was a tough weekend. I didn’t find it easy to get to grips with the circuit at first but I’m so happy to have finished another two races in Moto3. It’s all a learning experience at the moment and to come away with another ten points was magic.”
